Volunteer Brief:
The United Youth Athletics League (UYAL) is a youth-centered sports initiative committed to developing discipline, teamwork, confidence, and healthy lifestyles through athletics. Our mission goes beyond competition — we aim to empower young people, nurture talent, and create safe, inclusive spaces where youth can grow both on and off the field.
Role of Volunteers
Volunteers are the heartbeat of UYAL. By giving your time, skills, and energy, you play a direct role in shaping positive youth experiences and building stronger communities.
Key Volunteer Responsibilities
Depending on the event or program, volunteers may assist with:
Event setup, coordination, and breakdown
Athlete registration and timekeeping
Crowd guidance and athlete support
Coaching assistance and mentorship
Equipment management and logistics
Ensuring safety, fairness, and positive conduct

Terms and Conditions and Data Protection Statement for registration and participation in the United Youth Athletics League (UYAL)
United Youth Athletics League (UYAL) is a youth sports event promoting athletic development, fair play, and inclusion. To register and participate, all athletes, teams, and guardians must agree to the following terms and data protection policy and or statements:
• Eligibility: Participants must meet the age and category requirements set by UYAL and present valid identification or proof of age upon registration.
• Registration: Submission of a completed registration form and payment of applicable fees (if any) prior to the stated deadline is compulsory.
• Parental/Guardian Consent: All participants under 19 years must have the written consent of a parent or legal guardian.
• Code of Conduct: Participants must observe discipline, sportsmanship, and respect for officials, coaches, and other athletes. Misconduct may lead to disqualification or suspension.
• Health and Safety: Participants are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit. UYAL reserves the right to request medical clearance or deny participation if health or safety concerns arise.
• Liability: UYAL, its sponsors, and organisers are not liable for personal injury, property loss, or damage occurring during participation, except when caused by proven negligence.
• Media and Promotion: Participation implies consent to the use of photographs, videos, and names in media coverage and promotional materials related to UYAL.
• Event Rules: All participants must abide by the official competition rules and decisions of the event referees and organisers, whose rulings are final.
Data Protection Statement
• Collection: UYAL collects limited personal information (e.g., name, age, gender, contact details, health information, and guardian details) solely for registration, event administration, and safety purposes.
• Use: Data will be used to manage participation, communicate event details, ensure athlete safety, and comply with local sporting regulations.
• Storage and Security: All personal data are handled confidentially and stored securely in accordance with Botswana’s Data Protection Act.
• Disclosure: Personal data will only be shared with authorised persons such as event organisers, medical personnel, or regulatory authorities) when necessary for the safe conduct of the event.
• Consent and Rights: By registering, participants (or guardians) consent to data processing and have the right to request correction, access, or deletion of their personal data by contacting UYAL’s Data Protection Officer.
